She graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Department of Painting

Emel Oğan received lessons from Semih İrteş, Mamure Öz, Sevim Kayaoğlu, Mustafa Çelebi, Melek Antel and Dürdane Ünver in Topkapi Palace Atelier.

The artist has been carrying out her performances since 1996 and teaching in her personal atelier and ISMEK Turkish Islamic Arts Center. 

She knows English and Ottoman Turkish also held several personal and group exhibitions.Traditional arts are the most significant cultural heritage of our rich culture; they shed light on our day from past to present and maintain our spiritual values. These kinds of arts involve incredible richness of motifs, knowledge, love and patience. I think that in order to generate contemporary arts one should be aware of tradition and make synthesis and try new ideas and techniques.
